A Product Of Design with The Solitary Arts

Bob Lake, Jef Hartsel, Isaac McKay-Randozzi and myself went down to Atwater Village to visit Geoff McFetridge and Aaron Carretti as part of the installation week we spent in Los Angeles for A Product Of Design at SCION gallery in Culver City.  Geoff used the same india-ink he used for the original Curb Thief artwork and made a 9ft, free-standing, 3-layered relief piece for the Solitary Arts inclusion into the product show.  We spent a full day at the gallery and finished majority of the work together as a family and had time to spare to skate a few choice spots each day.  More to come on those skate missions!  By the way, the show ends this Saturday, October 8th so get there as all of the artwork is on sale including both the Big Red and the new Black Piano Pinner.  The space has a 0% commission policy so all of the artwork sold will go directly back to each member of the Solitary Arts. Mahalo for your support!

We stole Geoff's hand-painted curb from his studio and used it to secure the 9ft Curb Thief at the gallery space.

"A Product Of Design" Booklet

We, at the Solitary Arts, had a great time down in Los Angeles for almost a week of installation-work for A Product Of Design show at SCION Installation LA with approximately 750 folks in attendance on opening night (Sept 17th - Oct 8).  Christopher and Kathleen Sleboda (curators) invited the Solitary Arts family to participate, along with a gang of amazing people who make amazing product.  They also created a booklet for the opening through their own company, Gluekit of everyone that was invited for the show.  Thanks to the Sleboda's for their constant support as we couldn't have done anything without them.  Below is the first designed item for the show, made by Gluekit.

I'll be posting photos and stories from our journey with Jef Hartsel, Bob Lake, Isaac McKay-Randozzi and myself, next week, of our skateboarding/art adventures while down in LA.
