✓ — The WallRide Project
Mark Oblow is the first American artist invited to install the 150ft mural for The WallRide Project in downtown Sao Paolo, Brazil. Stance Socks and filmer Ricki Bedenbaugh capture the interconnectedness we all share through love, family, friends, art, and going skateboarding together with this 4:40 video below.
Born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii and sponsored for both surfing and skateboarding in the 80's, Oblow's creative spark was clear when he picked-up the camera and had his first paid photograph published in Thrasher Magazine by age 14. An acute eye for photography, fashion, graphic design, art and penning poetry daily, a natural trajectory towards utilizing all of his tools to create his own artwork has been a constant thread throughout his life. Drawing inspiration from connections with people, Oblow turned his photographs into multi-layered, multi-media pieces, continuously exploring and expanding and essentially immortalizing the people he photographs into stark and beautiful finished pieces. Published in books by Tom Adler to David Carson with openings in California, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Japan. Oblow currently lives in Southern California.
Watch both here along with Mudroi's reel below. Obrigado!
We had the privilege and honor of meeting some of the best people during the month of September while in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Cesar Rodrigues and Ale Jordao curated and hosted The WallRide Project (September 7, 2014) for Mark Oblow along with Stance's support for an event at Cartel 011 (September 9, 2014).
Below is just a small sample of images from Mark Oblow's Instagram account of our varied and consistently awesome time spent with our new family.
Obrigado to everyone who made this trip the most memorable one, ever...
