• I rode two of these @art_is_tree / jef hartsel boards when they first came out on alva (both red at the time and with that unique tri-tail). harts was always a huge influence as the salt lake / aliamanu crew I grew up with had his younger sister in our 8th grade math class. she shared his photos in thrasher mag and we felt connected for the first time to a pro skateboarder. with harts being asian, it was even more of a connection than any other, especially since he ripped pools, curbs and everything else with style and power. most importantly, harts has been a brother to me in friendship and support for years. besides @bxlx, harts was the reason why I truly had fun with my last board company. mahalo, braddah! stoked to have a few of these decks around with me. #jefhartsel #chosenbrothersratherthanblood #hawaiiskateboardingroyalty
• this graphic is one of the most burnt images in my mind. a ripper in my neighborhood in salt lake, oahu named peter akuna used to blast the silver bottom @nblender board at our intermediate school with his launch ramp and ever since, it's been a love affair. this shredded coffee break deck was kindly gifted to me years ago for my birthday by braddah, @jasonfoster_ with a personalized custom silver paint pen piece on the grip. mahalo, jason!
• the vision mark gonzales was the first board I ever rode. it was the white dipped one from the bike factory in pearl city, oahu. I bought some used white gullwings from an older kid in my housing area with g&s wheels. I loved this board and everything gonz. that first love was ridden until there was no nose and a micro razor tail with sexbolts holding it together. I passed it forward and saw it ridden through two more kids in the neighborhood. this one pictured, I still setup and ride...
